Through the tremendous generosity of Marshall Griffin and his father’s love of aviation and far-sighted preservation, this most historic and remarkable propeller has been donated to the Seattle World Cruiser Association. Our great friend at Cimtech, Steve Kidd, has laser-scanned the propeller for us. Thanks to Steve, the Museum of Flight, and Marshall Griffin, we can now reproduce both original land and sea propellers for our celebration world flight.
This remarkable propeller is not only an original 1924 World Flight artifact, but, as you can see, is covered with hand-painted squadron logos from the 1920s and 1930s, making it also a historic document of early aviation and Air Service history in the United States.
The propeller is now on loan to the Museum of Flight, in Seattle. |
